Research has shown that 7.5 million adults are stalked in one year in the United States, yet stalking is a crime that is often misunderstood, minimized, or missed entirely. While stalking remains an underreported crime, when it is reported, stalking charges are rarely filed even when all the elements of the crime are present.
General legal knowledge is highly recommended for this training.
By the end of this full-day trainings for prosecutors, legal advocates, judges, law students, and law enforcement, participants will be able to:
- Describe the prevalence, lethality and impact of stalking in intimate partner violence cases
- Outline the ways technology can be used in intimate partner stalking cases
- Identify key legal and evidentiary issues in technology-facilitated stalking
