The Victim Advocate I provides crisis intervention services to clients, with a focus on the provision of information, safety-planning, emotional support, advocacy and case management. The Victim Advocate I is responsible for assessing client’s safety and needs, creating referrals, setting up crisis appointments, accompanying clients to the Emergency Pantry and providing Hospital Accompaniment coverage. The person in this role also conducts follow-ups primarily for the Hospital Accompaniment Program. The Victim Advocate I provides administrative and program management support to the Hospital Accompaniment and Emergency Pantry Programs. The person in this position collaborates with other advocates, volunteers and interns, as well as with other members of the agency and partner organizations. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, detail oriented, resourceful and capable of continually reprioritizing tasks. They will have a flexible schedule and be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will have excellent time management skills, as well as strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an interest and understanding of social justice and a trauma-informed approach to direct client services. HopeWorks’ staff, board and volunteers are invested and engaged in altering the systems and imbalances of power that maintain the status quo – including racism, poverty, and gendered violence.
