Description: The primary role of the Shelter Advocate is to provide support, advocacy, and safety planning to adult victims of domestic violence who come to SAFE for shelter services. This position is to be carried out while empowering victims with respect to their safety and their right to self-determination. This is a full time position with flexible scheduling, but at minimum will include three week days and two weekend days from 12pm – 8pm at our confidential shelter location in Washington, DC. The shelter is accessible by bus and about a mile and a half from the nearest metro. The Advocate works closely with the other Shelter Advocate and Shelter Program Coordinator to ensure that the shelter program operates smoothly.
